The British Grand Prix 2014

Fans. Emotional, nervous and excited,

At this historic track for the British Grand Prix

And I speak for the majority here,

We all knew who we wanted the winner to be.

 

Rosberg started on pole,

With Seb and Jenson in second and third

While Lewis was down in 6^th

After a qualifying error had occurred

 

The lights went out,

Both Brits made a flying start,

But half way round the lap Kimi crashed

Tearing his car, a Williams and the barrier apart.

 

Both drivers walked away,

But the barrier needed replacing.

This was done under red flag,

And in just over an hour we were back racing!

 

Lewis was on a charge,

Soon past the McLaren’s and up to P2.

There were battles throughout the field,

And Alonso took his driver through

 

Somewhere around lap 24

Rosberg’s gearbox just gave in.

The grandstands went crazy,

Would we now get that amazing home win?

 

Alonso and Seb,

Were battling for position.

Jenson was catching Dan

And Lewis was obliterating the competition

 

Onto the last lap

And the crowd were on their feet

Waiting for their winner

Who they were more than ready to greet.

 

He’d done it!

I can honestly say

It’s the greatest thing I’ve ever seen!

 

Onto the podium for Lewis,

As onto the track fans ran.

Holding his trophy aloft,

As if to salute every engineer and fan

 

It’s what Brits had been waiting for

Lewis had made us so proud

I’ll look back on that day…

…and say ‘Wow! I was in that crowd!’
